Help with My Account

View and Pay Fines Online

Chester County Library System now offers the service of paying your fines and fees online.

How can I pay my library fines and fees online?
The Pay Online button can be found by going to the Catalog and clicking on the "View Your Record" link. Once you enter your name and library card number, you have access to several options, including "Pay Online."

What is the Chester County Library Systems Security/Privacy/Refund policy?
Click here for the Chester County Library System's Privacy policy.

What forms of payment are accepted for online payments?
The Library accepts MasterCard and Visa cards.

Is a service fee charged when paying fines online?
No. The Chester County Library does not add an additional service charge when paying fees online.

Is there a minimum fine amount that can be paid online?
No, you may pay any fine amount that you owe. Once in your record, when you click Pay Online, all fines are pre-selected. If you do not wish to pay all of the fines, you can "uncheck" the fines you do not wish to pay at this time and hit recalculate to pay only the checked, selected fines. Each selected fine must be paid in full - you cannot pay a partial amount on a selected fine.

Why do the fines I just paid still appear on "My Library Record" screen?
You must "refresh" that screen. When you do, it will accurately reflect your payment.

How do I get a receipt when I pay my fines online?
If you include an email address with the credit card information you submit, a receipt will be sent automatically to that email address. A payment receipt also displays online and may be printed.

Place a Hold

Placing a hold allows you to request that a copy of an item be sent to your choice of a library for pickup.

There are two ways to request a Hold.

1. Search the catalog as usual. When you get to the specific material you want, click on Place a hold on this item to the left of the title or on the Place a Hold icon at the top of the screen for an individual record. You will be instructed to enter your name, your 14 digit Library barcode and your PIN . Once this information is verified, you will be asked to select your pickup location. From the Hold Verification screen, choose Regular Display to continue searching. You will remain in My Record and will not need to reenter your personal information for any further holds.

2. First enter View Your Record . Enter any title in the box in the middle of the screen, and then search the catalog as usual. Once you find what you'd like to request, click on Place a Hold. You will be asked to select a pickup location. From the Hold verification screen, click on Regular Display to continue searching. You may place more holds without reentering your information.

Materials which are not eligible for holds:
  • Reference
  • Long Overdue
  • Missing
  • In Mending
  • In Storage
  • In Processing

Patrons who are unable to place holds:

    • Those who already have 20 holds
    • Those with long overdue items
    • Those who are in Collection
Holds are filled in the order in which they are placed.

You will be notified when the material is ready for you. We recommend giving us your email address for the quickest notification. You have 7 days to pick up the material, unless otherwise indicated.

If you are coming to the library the same day, call the library.
