Downingtown Library will be holding a very special election from November 2 through November 7. The general public is invited to come in and vote for their ultimate favorite among children’s literature. This unusual election will serve two purposes: to uncover just what Downingtown residents consider their best loved childhood book, and to raise funds for the library. The fund raising aspect of this event is in the way votes are counted -every vote costs a penny! So fill the coin jar for your favorite book, and help your local library. The people’s choice will be announced on Monday, November 9.
Nominated titles span the 20th century, and include:
Snowy Day by Ezra Keats Jackson
The Mitten by Jan Brett
Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
Good Night Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
Strega Nona by Tomie De Paola
Green Eggs and Ham by Dr.Seuss
Curious George by H.A. Rey
Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel
Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney
