The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation started pre-qualifying residents who want to receive Real IDs when they become available in March. The Real ID driver’s license meets federal anti-terrorism standards and will allow Pennsylvanians to board commercial airliners, as well as enter certain secure federal buildings. To pre-qualify for a Real ID, you have to provide proof of current address and a Social Security card. You also have to provide another proof of identification if you obtained your first Pennsylvania driver’s license before September 2003. This can include a passport, a birth certificate, or a certificate of U.S. citizenship. For more information check out PennDOT's website.
